Help troubleshoot? Blazer not starting

2000 S-10 Blazer. Got in it and it would not start. A neighbor who is handy said "starter" so we changed it. Did not help. Battery is good. When we turn the key we can hear the ignition relay click, but no idea what to check now.

Which Car would you advise getting?

If you want to avoid a situation where a broken timing belt causes serious engine damage, make sure you buy a car with a non-interference engine. There are many still made. Every vehicle I own has a non-interference engine. http://www.freeautomechanic.com/TimingBelts.pdf http://yourcarangel.com/2014/07/interference-engines-complete-list/ http://www.agcoauto.com/content/List_Of_Interference_Engines With an interference engine, there would be valves crashing into pistons if the timing belt breaks. With a non-interference engine, there is no position of the crankshaft and camshaft that allows that to happen. I don't suggest that you ignore replacement of the timing belt at the recommended intervals, but if you do find yourself with a broken timing belt on a non-interference engine, you'll only be out a towing charge and the shop charge for replacing the belt. If you change your own, you would only be out a towing charge to where you do your car repair work at. I wish all vehicles had non-interference engines, but it isn't likely to ever happen. And that doesn't mean an interference type engine a poor design; it merely means that it wasn't a design goal when the engine was designed. There are some Lexus engines, by the way, that are of the non-interference type, and some of the engines used in the Escapes are also that type.

Oil Leak from my Chevy 450

Got a Chevy 450 running after setting for several years. Upon starting the oil filter is leaking out the gasket. Tried several different filters and even a new adapter. The filter actually tilts to side when the oil pressure comes up. It like the passage from the oil filter to the engine is plugged and causing it to come out the gasket. Any ideas?

Air Conditioning compressor recharged and now again

My 1998 S10 had the compressor replaced about 6 years ago and I had it evacuated and charged by a licensed professional. This year, now that the heat has arrived, it seems to have much less cooling capacity than it did last year. Rather than completely evacuate the system and add the correct total amount of refrigerant, is there a way to just "top it up" instead of removing all of it and starting over? I have a R-134 gauge set and a vacuum compressor for evacuating the system if I need to do that. But can I add, say 1 or 2 oz. of refrigerant at a time and see if the A/C seems to be cold enough, or can I go by high side pressure and add a bit at a time, waiting for the pressure to stabilize, until I reach a certain pressure? I would guess that the ambient temperature affects the pressures I would be reading with the gauge set since the aftermarket kits have an adjustment for that on the simple gauge they use on the low side. If the aftermarket kit is the best approach, I have the hose from one of those that I used to use before I bought the gauge set and vacuum compressor to do a complete job on another vehicle of mine a year ago.

How to program my immobilizer module

PROGRAMMING THE SENTRY KEY IMMOBILIZER MODULE NOTE: If the PCM and the SKIM are replaced at the same time, program the VIN into the PCM first. All vehicle keys will then need to be replaced and programmed to the new SKIM. • Turn the ignition on (transmission in park/ neutral). • Use the DRBIII® and select THEFT ALARM, SKIM then MISCELLANEOUS. • Select SKIM MODULE REPLACEMENT (GAS-OLINE). • Program the vehicle four-digit PIN into the SKIM. • Select COUNTRY CODE and enter the correct country. NOTE: Be sure to enter the correct country code. If the incorrect country code is programmed into SKIM, the SKIM must be replaced. • Select UPDATE VIN (the SKIM will learn the VIN from the PCM). • Press ENTER to transfer the VIN (the PCM will send the VIN to the SKIM). • The DRBIII® will ask if you want to transfer the secret key. Select ENTER to transfer secret key from the PCM. This will ensure the current vehicle ignition keys will still operate the SKIS system. 3.2.11 PROGRAMMING THE IGNITION KEYS TO THE SENTRY KEY IMMOBILIZER MODULE 1. Turn the ignition on (transmission in park/ neutral). 2. Use the DRBIII® and select THEFT ALARM, SKIM, then MISCELLANEOUS. • Select PROGRAM IGNITION KEYS. • Enter secured access mode by entering the vehicle four-digit PIN. NOTE: A maximum of eight keys can be learned to each SKIM AT ONE TIME. Once a key is learned to a SKIM it (the key) cannot be transferred to another vehicle. If ignition key programming is unsuccessful, the DRBIII® will display one of the following messages: Programming Not Attempted -The DRBIII® attempts to read the programmed key status and there are no keys programmed in the SKIM memory. Programming Key Failed -(Possible Used Key From Wrong Vehicle) -SKIM is unable to program key due to one of the following: • faulty ignition key transponder • ignition key is programmed to another vehicle. 8 Keys Already Learned, Programming Not Done -SKIM transponder ID memory is full. • Obtain ignition keys to be programmed from customer (8 keys maximum) • Using the DRBIII®, erase all ignition keys by selecting MISCELLANEOUS and ERASE ALL CURRENT IGN. KEYS • Program all ignition keys. Learned Key In Ignition -Ignition key transponder ID is currently programmed in SKIM memory.

Ford Focus has no heat coming out of vent

I am having problems with my ford focus zetec, 02 plate 1.6 The temperature gauge seems to be playing up, sometimes I can be driving and the gauge is sitting in the middle and sometimes it sits in the white box , sometimes like its not working. Yesterday I traveled from colchester to Peterborough, on the way the the dial was sitting in the middle, but on the way home last night it was hardly registering on the dial at all, sometimes in the white box and sometime just outside the white box, also if it was slightly up when I slowed down the dial would go right down, no sure if its related but I don't seem to get any heat out the blowers, all the way from Peterborough I got no heat. Do you think it is overheating but why is there no heat coming from vents?
