car did not shift into a higher gear

I have a 2000 Chevy Blazer v-6 with an auto transmission. I had been servicing it regularly and did not abuse it. Yesterday while driving to have my oil changed the car did not shift into a higher gear. now my car will not shift into reverse also unless I let up on the gas it won''t shift into a higher gear. The guys at the oil changing place thinks it electrical. They dropped the oil pan and changed the filter. Is it a major problem or just a adjustment problem.

There are no adjustments so i would have to go with the major problem. If it was just a solenoid then it would only have one problem ( loss of one gear, not more ) so I would say you are looking at having it rebuilt or replaced.

Sounds like some typical GM issues. More than likely you will need to have the BCM ( body control module ) replaced. This is a common problem. This will need to be done at a dealer as they need to flash the computer after it is installed.

We bought a used 07 Nissan Sentra and the engine make a knocking/ticking lifter noise we have taken it to 2 different Nissan dealerships the say it is normal my boyfriend doesn't like the sound he says the lifters sound bad and that at times it sounds like a diesel... so even if this is nothing to be concerned with is there a way to remedy it ?

One thing you can try is when it gets warmer outside I would run a little heaver engine oil like a 10-40w engine oil with a Nissan oil filter.

how do i remove the distributer and mount on 1996 three cyl metro?

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. 2. Disconnect the wiring harness at the distributor and the vacuum line at the distributor vacuum advance unit. 3. Remove the distributor cap. NOTE: Mark the distributor body in reference to where the rotor is pointing. Mark the distributor hold-down bracket and cylinder head for a re-installation location point. 4. Remove the hold-down bolt and the distributor from the cylinder head. Do not rotate the engine after the distributor has been removed. To install: Fig. 1: This is the correct alignment of the distributor shaft 5. If the engine was not rotated proceed as follows: 1. Align the reference marks on the distributor housing to the distributor hold-down bracket. 2. Install the distributor into the offset slot in the camshaft, then the hold-down bolt. 3. Connect vacuum hoses and electrical connectors to the distributor. 4. Install the distributor cap, then connect the battery negative cable. Check and/or adjust the ignition timing. 6. If the engine was rotated while the distributor was removed, place the engine on TDC of the compression stroke to obtain the proper ignition timing. 1. Remove the No. 1 spark plug. 2. Place thumb over the spark plug hole. Crank the engine slowly until compression is felt. It will be easier to have someone rotate the engine by hand, using a wrench on the crankshaft pulley. 3. Align the timing mark on the crankshaft pulley with the 0 degrees mark on the timing scale attached to the front of the engine. This places the engine at TDC of the compression stroke. 4. Turn the distributor shaft until the rotor points to the No. 1 spark plug tower on the cap. 5. Install the distributor into the engine. Be sure to align the distributor-to-engine block mark made earlier. 6. Install the No. 1 spark plug. Connect all vacuum hoses and electrical connectors to the distributor. 7. Install distributor cap, then connect the battery negative cable. 8. Check and/or adjust ignition timing.
