Mazda recalls 52,000 vehicles for spider web concerns

WASHINGTON (Reuters) -- Mazda Motor Corp. is recalling 52,000 Mazda6 vehicles from the 2009-2010 model years over concerns that spider webs in the emissions system could lead to fuel tank cracks and possible leaks.

The vehicles were manufactured from April 8, 2008 through Feb. 8, 2010. The Auto Alliance joint venture plant between Mazda and Ford Motor Co. in Flat Rock, Mich., makes the vehicle.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said in a summary of the problem that a certain type of spider may weave a web that restricts a vent line.

This could cause the emissions control system to increase pressure inside the fuel tank, leading to cracks and potential fuel leaks and an increased risk of fire.

Mazda said it would install a spring to prevent this type of spider from entering the vent line, NHTSA said.

will a cold air intake void my Factory warranty on my Mazda Rx8?

It shouldn't and most dealerships will not void the warranty unless you install a chip or something that needs to be spliced into the electrical system, but to be 100% sure you would want to call the dealership you bought vehicle from.

When you start the car it will go dead unless you rev up the engine.

Question:
I have a 2001 Mazda 626 with a v-6 manual transmission. When you start the car it will go dead unless you rev up the engine. If you two foot with the clutch and gas you can drive all day but when you go to stop at a light or turn and the idle goes down it dies immediately. It starts right back up as long as you push the gas.
Answer:
From your description it sounds like you have a sticking idle air control valve. When they stick you will need to hold your foot on the gas to keep the engine running. You can try to tap on the valve to see if that will free it up.

wierd wawawa..sound coming from back tires

QUESTION:
weird wawawa..sound coming from back tires, had to get it tagged and licensed, it passed the safety inspection .and only I hear it!the guy that safety inspected it said, the only thing he could think of would be the tires .wearing unevenly?Got those at Big O and they overcharged me,afraid to take it there anymore>>1985 Mazda 626
ANSWER:
The best way to check to see if it is the tires would be to move the rear tires to the front and see if the noise follows. If it does, you may be able to have the tires replaced under warranty if they are fairly new.

2006 Mazda five is a tire eater--apparently others have this problem

QUESTION:
Our 2006 Mazda five is a tire eater--apparently others have this problem with inside tire wear--tires last 10,000 miles or less and get dangerous. Is there a fix and is Mazda willing to deal with this problem? Already Tried: Multiple trips to dealer for fixes and tires--none seem to work.
ANSWER:
As of today, There is no recall for this issue. There are only 2 recalls for the 2006 Mazda5. 1) Recall ID # 05V412000 - ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM 2) Recall ID # 06V463000 - LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES:DOORS:LATCH The tire issue is not covered at this point by keep all your recipes for any tires you do buy so that if or when then do have a recall on this issue, you will be able to get your money back. Make sure you are having your tires rotated at there proper interval and have receipts for this as well. If this car was bought used, you may need to have a 4 wheel alignment done.
