General Motors -- testing a new sales promotion -- is offering Oregonians and Washingtonians a new incentive to buy or lease a GM vehicle.
Any driver from the two states who buys or leases a new vehicle through Sept. 6 and titles the vehicle in either state will receive a free one-year automobile insurance policy from MetLife Auto & Home.
The offer is part of a GM pilot program to see if offering a year’s worth of free insurance boosts sales.
GM chose Oregon and Washington to launch the program because the automaker has had traditionally weak sales there, GM spokesman Tom Henderson said.
The offer includes 2010, 2011 and 2012 models, GM said.
GM's U.S. sales are up 17 percent this year in a market that has advanced 13 percent.
If the pilot is successful, GM would consider expanding the program to other markets, Henderson said.
The policy covers the vehicle and any driver as long as the initial customer owns or leases the vehicle. Drivers aren’t required to accept the MetLife insurance.
Any driver with a valid operator's license is eligible for the offer, Henderson said. Commercial and fleet customers are not eligible.
The insurance incorporates liability and physical damage coverage, exceeding the legally required amount of coverage in both states, GM said.
Liability coverage is capped at $100,000 per person, and up to $300,000 per occurrence. Collision coverage is limited to the value of the vehicle.
MetLife’s policy stipulates that if a vehicle is totaled within a year of purchase or before 15,000 miles, the insurer will repair or replace the vehicle without deducting for depreciation, GM said.
“This offer enhances the vehicle’s value proposition because our policy is considered one of the most comprehensive in the industry,” Bill Moore, president of MetLife Auto & Home, said in a statement. “Our new car replacement feature is a benefit not found in most auto policies.”

Car Insurance, the New Big Brother?
Insurance companies get a bad rap. Everybody hates auto insurance until they need to file a claim, and all of a sudden they’re all friends. A week later they go back to hating their insurance company. It looks like some insurers, like The Hartford, want to just skip the part where you pretend like you’re friends and just stick to being hated. They have a new plan over there called Direct Repair Provider, or DRP. It’s basically a network of pre-approved repair shops that are authorized to work on your car if you make a claim. Sounds innocent enough, right? It could even be a good idea, letting your insurance company find the shop and do the legwork for you. The problem lies in the future implications. If your car is sent to one of the Preferred Provider shops, you’re essentially letting the insurance company repair your car. Since the repair shop is in the pocket of the insurer, who’s side do you think they’ll take when a repair is up for debate? I’d also be willing to bet that in exchange for the steady stream of business that will come when a shop becomes a DRP, they agree to lower rates. This can mean lower quality work and less attention to detail.
The issue is heating up in the industry, but it will be up to consumers — the ones paying for car insurance — to tip the scales in the direction of independent repair shops and no direct oversight by the insurance companies. If your insurer is offering these packages, be sure to think long and hard before you sign up.

PROTECT YOUR CAR WITH INSURANCE
Cheapest Car Insurance found on the Net
Premiums.
Personal responsibility drives how premiums are set: good drivers pay less and bad drivers continue to pay for their driving habits. Good, experienced drivers pay premiums in a competitive market that offers prices comparable to other western province.
Getting several quotes on insurance for a motor vehicle may save you hundreds of dollars a year. Other ways to reduce your insurance premium are:
1) Raise your deductibles on collision and comprehensive coverage's. If you have an old car, it may make sense to drop these coverage's altogether.
2) Take advantage of discounts. Some companies offer discounts to motorists who drive less than a certain amount of miles per year, are a student with good grades, have taken a safe-driving course or are over 50 years old. You might also be able to get discounts if you insure more than one vehicle, insure your vehicle and your home with the same company, have had no moving vehicle violations or accidents in three years, have anti-theft devices or have safety features such as air bags.

Car Insurance
Car Insurance ........ yeah ,they all say they're the cheapest out there......lol. Surely you are intellegent enough to know not all insurance companies are created equal. Each individual insurance policy should be read completely just as you would read a New car warrenty. The Policy is only as good as the coverage it "really" has. The Largest National Insurance Company is currently undergoing a class action law suit for charging individuals with multiple policies more than once as a primary driver, on each vehicle. So do not think just because they have a well known name that you will be treated fair. Take the time to read it, after all don't you want to know what you are paying for?
Each policy is only as good as its coverage
