2005 Chevy Silverado error code P0449 registers
Question:
2005 Chevy Silverado error code P0449 registers when cleared it comes back after a couple starts. What could be the problem
Answer:
This is usually a problem with the Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Solenoid. If it was me, I would do a bit of troubleshooting BEFORE replacing parts. You could just have a loose or broken wire or connector.

Yes I have the same yr truck and same problem that you are I know what it is and how to fix it is your evap vent solenoid it is located under the truck next to the gas tank on the drivers side it well be a round canister about 4 inch tall 4 inches around with a piece of hose holding it to the vapor canister. go buy the part at a Chevy dealer it cost about $162.00 it is a newer design it well be two pieces the old one is one piece so you well also need a piece of 5/8 hose to connect the two new parts together. Get the old one off the truck it has a easy connecter holding one side of it to the vapor canister the other side it is shrink wrapped on so get it off the truck hose and all then use a propane torch to un shrink wrap it put the old hose back on the new one and put it back together go to auto zone to clear your code for free and done no more problems if you need and other help or something you are not clear on let me know my email if frozen02@live.com always happy to help out a Chevy owner.

ReplyDeleteHey All, I have a 2006 Silverado 2500HD 6.0L. Check engine light is on reads code P0449, purge vent solenoid. I removed solenoid and tested with 12VDC, it works fine. All hoses and connections have been checked with no leakage. Electrical connectors are clean and reading .2VDC with truck running. I have reset code several times but it keeps coming back...
