the brake pedal goes to the floor

Question:
We have a 1995 Ford Mustang, the brake pedal goes to the floor with no braking power and no system leaks. What could be the problem?
Answer:
This is a classic indication of a failed master cylinder. This is from the internal seals of the master cylinder allowing fluid to pass internally.

  1. I had the same problem. assumed it was the master cylinder, changed it out. bled the brake system. Brakes still go to the floor. Any Ideas.

  2. I had the same problem. Push the brakes, they go to the floor. Changed out the Master Cylinder, Bled the brakes (Yes... All 4) and the brake pedal still hits the floor with little stopping power. Any ideas for me?

  3. If after replacing the Master cylinder you still have the same problem, Then most likely you have received a "bad" new master cylinder. I have found most master cylinders are rebuilt and not always the best quality. Try Another One!!
