starter will not engage turning the key over

Truck has full power when i turn the key but the starter will not engage turning the key over helps sometime or shaking the shifter but now neither are working 2002 chevy silverado 2500HD

    Have you checked to see if you are getting power to the starter when attempting to start the vehicle?
