I have had the brake lines bled twice and cannot get rid of the spongy pedal associated with air in the brake lines.

I drive a 2002 Land Rover Discovery II. I have had the brake lines bled twice and cannot get rid of the spongy pedal associated with air in the brake lines. If the pedal is pumped one time the brakes return to normal. There are no visable signs of a leak. Can air be trapped elsewhere besides the lines going to the calipers? Any suggestions? Already Tried: Bleeding the brake lines at the calipers.

  1. I get alot of complaints about this. Unless there has been some type of hydraulic work done like a caliper replaced there should not be any air in the system. What you described the above in normal unless the brake pedal is going to the floor.

  2. If the brake system has loss all the fluid from the master cylinder to any wheel, the problem may be air trapped in the anti-lock brake distribution manifold. This is a very difficult to purge without a power bleeding system and is a different proceedure with each system. It is best left to a professional.
