What years will interchange with 2005 Chevy Malibu parts?

car broke down and he thinks hes out of gas. we don't hear fuel pump kicking in and think his fuel pump went out. (he has a check engine light on and don't remember what code was) it says something about a sensor on fuel pump that controls float or something is defective. it cannot be replaced separately. we got a salvage where you pull parts off really cheap at a salvage and planning on going there. what years will interchange with 05 Malibu 3.5 engine? it has the new body style but not sure if it will matter. it seems to be a good car other than that and his power steering assist that went out.
