Hyundai Santa Fe vehicles creaking sounds

Subject: On OE factory equipped rear trailing arms you may experience: creaking sounds, change in ride height, or start to notice a difference in vehicle handling. May fracture while driving.

Vehicle Involved: 2001- 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe vehicles

Condition: During the winter months in the Snow Belt states, large quantities of salt are used to De-ice roads. Road salt may cause internal corrosion of the rear trailing arms.

Repair Procedure: Dealers will inspect the rear trailing arms for internal corrosion damage. The dealership will determine if trailing arms will be replaced. Trailing arms that do not need replacement will have drain hole added and be treated with a rust proofing coating.
