(DTC) CODE # P0700....Transmission Control System (MIL Request)
Translation: Transmission Control Module (TCM) Malfunction or Failure.
P0700 Information Code
The Transaxle Control Module (TCM) monitors the malfunction of sensors and actuators relating to transaxle control. If any malfunction is detected, the TCM informs the PCM by sending a signal (P0700 code). P0700 means that a code has been set in the TCM.
This code is for information ONLY. If this code is present, check for transaxle codes.
So basically, the P0700 code is telling you to check the TCM for a transaxle DTC. The TCM can not turn on the check engine light so it has the PCM do it. The dealer probably saw the code P0700 and went to the TCM and pulled out the code stored there telling them the Transmission Solenoid Assembly (TSA) is bad.
This is a good example of understanding what the codes actually mean. If the manual you looked at said the TCM is bad and to replace the TCM when you see a P0700, then it is wrong.
I got this code on my 2002 Honda Accord, along with a P1739 (Automatic transaxle concerns. Will my transmission sensors need to be replaced ? (that's what I was told at Auto Zone). About how much should a job like this cost?
ReplyDeletei got this n the p1100 code on my 96 gmc sonoma so to my understanding the p0700 code is a code that tells you that something else is wrong
ReplyDeleteYes. It tells you that you have an issue with your transmission. And you will need to read the transmission codes to find out what. You will need a Good Quaility Scan Tool or Sop that has one. The free scan at the parts store isn't gonna cut it on this one.

P0700 and P 0705 trouble. Transmission range sensor malfunction. I think the switch that is actuated by shifting lever is bad. What is your opinion? It is a suzuki forenza 2007. Rpm jump from 2200 to 3000 for about 60 mph. When leave the parking spot barely moves.
ReplyDeleteI have a 99 Plymouth voyager and I had the following codes appear, p1784, p0740, p1899, p0700, p1495,p1497. Can anyone tell me what all this means and if the car is worth fixing?
ReplyDeleteI have 04 grand cherokee with a po700 and p0481 code. stalls and trans. seems to slip, fluid is full according to dip stick.
ReplyDeletecan anybody tell me what is P0700?
ReplyDeleteit is a information code that is sent from the transmission computer to the engine computer to turn on the check engine light the trans mission cannot turn this light on by itself so it sends a p0700 out of the engine computer then you have to hook up a diagnostic tool to read the trans computer to see what codes are in that module
Deletemy 2001 dodge caravan runs fine but today my engine light came on. Went got it scanned and codes P0605 and P0700 show up. What needs done? My brother is mechanical so is it something he could fix or does a dealer have to do this?

ReplyDeleteI have a 2005 Mini Cooper S convertible. Lights are on all over the dash including the flat tire light, service engine etc. Car is running fine, but all the lights are on. I had a scan done with a professional scan tool and it is throwing a p0700 code. I know that this means there is a transmission sensor that is bad. Could someone tell me where this sensor is located on the car? The light go off at times and seems to be connected with the shifting to the car. The care has an automatic transmission.
ReplyDeleteI have a 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer that is reading a DTC of P0705 Trans Range Sensor Circuit Malfunction (PRNDL Input). Anyone have any advice on what needs to be checked or repaired? How critical is this?
