The 2009 Hyundai Genesis is this Korean automaker's first rear-wheel drive vehicle. This large car also marks the debut of Hyundai's first available V8 engine. Genesis is about 6 inches longer in wheelbase and 3 inches longer overall than Hyundai's Azera midsize sedan. Question: I have a 2001 Pontiac gran prix 3.1L engine. To accelerate I have to just press slightly on the gas petal. If I press to hard or all the way on the gas petal the engine will rev up to 4000 rpm but will no accelerated. Whether I am going slow or fast does not matter I have to nurse the gas petal to accelerate. When the car jumps up to 4000 rpm I need to release the gas petal then press lightly on it to accelerate again. The car will maintain its speed and rev normally when I achieve the desired speed unless I start going up anything other than a slight incline. I see 2 possibilities . 1) could be a busted or slipped belt internal in the tire. swapping the tires to the front and the front to the back and then drive it , if the vibration can now be felt in the steering wheel, then you need to replace the tires. 2) Could be a failing/failed rear wheel bearing. Have seen this many times. The bearing is mounted inside the rear brake drum, so if it were to fail it would allow some brake noise and wobble. Jack up the rear end , grab the tire(with it still bolted on) and see if you can wiggle it around, if so...Have the bearing replaced ASAP !!

You have air in the system and will need to have them bled. This is the only reason for the pedal to be able to pump up and hold pressure. If you pump it up and the pedal slowly drifts to the floor while holding foot on pedal then your master cylinder needs to be replaced.

BMW - No Heat

Vehicle Problem:

I have a 1998 BMW 540i with no heat. When I start it and drive for a while the temp gauge will rise almost into the red zone and then it drops back down to normal. After this happens , then I have some heat but not like it should be.

Solution:

First I checked the coolant level. It was Full. Then I pressure tested the coolant system to make sure it did not have a leak and the customer might have just been filling it. No leak found. Took temperature readings at the upper and lower radiator hose only to find there was a big difference in temperature. This was an indication of a failed thermostat. Replaced thermostat with one from dealer. This thermostat is a complete housing with the temperature sending unit built in. This took care of the problem . Customer happy. Parts and Labor cost $300.00 + tax

P1633 Keep Alive Power Voltage Too Low (Ford)

It means that at sometime in the past the battery voltage was below specs at the PCM and set the code.The battery provides 12 volts to power everything,the car probably sat for a while and probably took a long time to start or had to be jumped off to start.... when the voltage got below 9 volts it set the code.

The code is more of a indicator for us more than anything.. the computer learns as you drive and all the code is saying is that it lost it's power to itself and can loose that learned information.

Have a shop inspect the battery for being weak or dying as well as your battery connections.. if all is fine, I wouldn't worry as my guess is the car's code was set cause it sat unused for a while

2001 taurus 3.0 slow starting

Question: 2001 Taurus 3.0 slow starting after it has run and set yet still warm. Takes more cranking time than it used to. If it sits long enough to cool down adequately it fire right off. Approx. 150000on it, changed plugs at 100000. In the mornings it fires of within a second or two of cranking time. If I drive it to work and it sets for a half hour, when I start it it takes 3-4 seconds of cranking time. Have changed fuel filter recently,and have had it in the shop to work on the egr valve and replace a sensor. Answer: I can see two things that will cause this and they go hand in hand. The IAC (Idle Air Control) if it is stuck in the open position, it will cause this issue. The other is a engine temp sensor( not the coolant temp sensor) as the the computer uses the reading from the engine temp sensor to adjust the IAC.

Brakes Sticking

Question :

Since having new rear discs and pads on my 2002 "S" Type Jaguar I have had a problem with the brakes staying on (all 4 brakes). If I hook the pedal up with my foot then they release. I find it hard to believe that it could have suddenly developed a master cylinder problem and at £265 I don''t want to take a chance that it might be that. Is the brake pedal pushrod attached to the master cylinder or does it just rest against it? i.e. does the pedal have a return spring?

Already Tried: phoned Jaguar dealer. He thinks it`s "maybe" the master cylinder.

Answer :

There is no return spring. more than likely one of the caliper hoses are twisted. This is a common occurrence that happens when doing a brake job and not being careful to double check once put back together. Since the problem was found after the brake job, that is definitely the first place I would look.

Answer :

I have seen this several times and it is caused by the catalytic converter being clogged. To prove this is the issue, take a back pressure reading at the front O2 sensors. It should be 1.5 psi or less. Anymore than that and it will cause this issue.

The four-seater Nano will have a dealer price of 100,000 rupees ($2,500), and will go on sale later this year. It costs less than half of India's cheapest car, the Maruti 800."Let me assure you and our critics the car we have designed will meet all safety norms and all foreign environmental criteria," Chairman Ratan Tata said at the unveiling.

The car has a rear-wheel drive, an all-aluminium body, a 623cc engine, a multi-point fuel injection system. It has a roomy passenger compartment with generous legroom.

"It's a dream come true," Ashok Singh, a constable with the Delhi Police. "I look forward to buying that car. My wife will be really happy."

Tata said the car would have a rear-mounted engine and travel 20 kilometres per litre of petrol. It would be offered in a basic model and two deluxe variants. Tata said it would focus on the home market for up to three years before considering exporting the Nano to countries in Africa, Latin America and Southeast Asia.

Code P0700

(DTC) CODE # P0700....Transmission Control System (MIL Request) Translation: Transmission Control Module (TCM) Malfunction or Failure. P0700 Information Code The Transaxle Control Module (TCM) monitors the malfunction of sensors and actuators relating to transaxle control. If any malfunction is detected, the TCM informs the PCM by sending a signal (P0700 code). P0700 means that a code has been set in the TCM. This code is for information ONLY. If this code is present, check for transaxle codes. So basically, the P0700 code is telling you to check the TCM for a transaxle DTC. The TCM can not turn on the check engine light so it has the PCM do it. The dealer probably saw the code P0700 and went to the TCM and pulled out the code stored there telling them the Transmission Solenoid Assembly (TSA) is bad. This is a good example of understanding what the codes actually mean. If the manual you looked at said the TCM is bad and to replace the TCM when you see a P0700, then it is wrong.

1997 Chevy 2500 4x4 - Loss of power

1997 Chevy 2500 4x4, 350 Engine, Automatic Transmission. Runs great for 2 Hours and then won't hardly go. Still idles fine, still runs but without pulling power. Fuel Trim is within spec, O2 sensors are new and working correctly, Back pressure on exhaust is 1.0 (within spec) Fuel pressure is 65 KOEO and 58 KOEO. Every thing seems to be in order. But when this happens you can spray some starting fluid in it and get it to break the tires loose as long as you keep spraying in starting fluid. I was wondering if anyone out there has seen this and if it could be related to the spider injectors ???

As long as you notify the manufacturer in writing of your intention to pursue lemon status for your vehicle before the end of the 1-year period, your claim will still be valid even if the process extends beyond the 1-year limit. The Nebraska Lemon Law applies only to problems that substantially impair the use or market value of the vehicle, and problems that are not the result of abuse, neglect, or unauthorized modifications of the vehicle.

No Start - 1993 Chevy Full Size Blazer

Vehicle Problem:

I have a 1993 Chevy K5 Blazer. It was driving fine and then died as I pulled into the driveway at home. Tried to restart it and it just sputters.

This Vehicle was towed into my Shop:

Solution:

First I checked for spark, spark was good. Then I installed a fuel pressure gauge and measure 0 psi of fuel pressure. I then applied voltage to the pump from the fuel pump relay. No fuel pressure. Dropped fuel tank and replaced fuel pump and strainer. Also replaced fuel filter. Tested fuel pressure at 15 psi and Blazer now runs fine.

Repair cost for fuel pump, strainer and filter $300.00 + tax

No Heat -

Question:

My temperature gauge does not move past 170 and is will only blow warm air, not hot like it used to. My coolant level is full and its not overheating.... What could it be ?

Answer:

The most common cause for this situation is a Thermostat that is stuck in the open position. This allows the coolant to continuously flow through the engine. This keep the coolant from being able to get as hot as it should. Normal operating temperature is between 180-220 degrees. Have the thermostat replaced and all should move back to normal.

If by chance your thermostat is not stuck in the open position, then the most likely event is that your heater core is clogged and will need to be replaced.

My Car Won't Go in Gear

Vehicle Problem: I Have a 1998 Chrysler Seebring. Occasionally it does not want to go right gear.I just had the shift solenoids replaced for the same reason. What could it be? Solution: While test driving the vehicle I quickly notice the symptom it was brought in for. As I put the shifter in gear the vehicle did nothing until I reved the engine slightly and then it began to move. I drove the car around the parking lot and stopped with the car still in gear. Waited 30 seconds and had to rev the engine slightly to get it to move. This confirmed the symptom the customer was having. I left the engine running and popped the hood. I removed the transmission dipstick and proved my suspicion, it was not even registering on the stick. After adding fluid, in the amount of two quarts, I let it settle and double checked the fluid level. Test drove the vehicle for 20 minutes around town and had no more issues. Triple checked the trans fluid level and all was well. Raised the vehicle to see where the lost fluid might have gone since the transmission is a completely sealed unit. Cleaned off the bottom of the engine/transmission area and ran the engine. No signs of leaks found. Drove the vehicle around town for another 20 minutes and recheck underside for leaks, still no sign of leaks. I can only assume that the dealer that had replaced the shift solenoids did not top off the transmission fluid level. Customer is now happy !! Cost to the customer was $94.00 plus tax... This is an Actual Situation that occurred on January 1st, 2008
